Lloyd Maunder (West Country Family Butchers Ltd) employs 80 staff across their fourteen shops.
In order to encourage the many up and coming young butchers throughout the Company they decided to introduce an annual competition to find their ‘Young Butcher of the Year’ along similar lines to the national competition which the winner would then be entered for.
Six of the Company’s best young butchers were given the opportunity to compete against each other to showcase their skill in the following categories;
Lloyd Maunders General Manager, David Carter was head judge, assisted by Robin Beer (Retail Manager), Colin Summers (Sales Promoter) and Paul Watkins (Technical Sales Manager).
Each section was point scored and the young butcher proven to be the most skilled overall was Richard Skingle from their Bovey Tracey Shop, who won a boxed set of knives and was also presented with an engraved cut glass bowl to be displayed in his shop. After the event Richard said that he was delighted with the win and was looking forward to a bright future with the Company.
Lloyd Maunder would like to thank EBLEX, Weddel Swift and MK Ingredients for sponsoring this successful and enjoyable event which will play an important role in encouraging young people to train to become skilled butchers of the future.
